These beautiful mushroom-like structures usually have a separate head and base, making them easier to manouvere when you need to find the perfect position for them. Each Staddlestone is truly unique, and they come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Their craggy, time-worn surfaces are also an attractive proposition to mosses and lichens, and you can see an array of each growing on every piece.
Traditionally, Staddlestones were used to prop-up grain stores and larders, as once raised they were protected from pests and water. Most of the Staddlestones which we sell now, however, are obviously used purely for decoration.
