19th Century Stone Sculpture of Nude Maiden reclaimed from the Old Port Admiral Hotel (Lancaster Road, Preston)

The pub was built in 1854 before being demolished in 1969. The facade and architecture of the pub was a landmark and the statue was a talking point for over 100 years.  Until recently it had been on display in a private garden in Lancashire.

Description

The sculptor remains unidentified, although, the statue bears resemblance to “the Greek slave” statue by Hiram Powers in the great exhibition of 1851.

The nose on the sculpture has been patched and rebuilt and the right hand is missing

Measurements: 210cm high
